Private Training or Board and Train?
Many times I get the question, do you offer board and train as an option? For those not familiar, that’s where the dog is dropped off at a facility and a qualified trainer then trains the dog, then weeks or months later the dog returns home. While this technique does train the dog, we don’t recommend it for pet owners. This type of training is best suited for guard dog protection, hunting, and field trial training. For the average pet owner, most people are looking for dogs to listen to them and obey them in their homes. While the dogs do come home trained, they may or may not listen and respect you the owner when you give the commands. Dogs develop a relationship and bond with their trainers. The trainers assert themselves as alpha over the dog and the dog learns to listen and obey that trainer. If you as the owner are not doing the training, you are missing a key element in that training, the building of respect and pack order within the dog’s mind. Training is twofold. One, you are teaching the dog what the words mean, Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Heal. Two, you are teaching the dog that you are in control and they must listen and respect you and all family members within the household.
Sessions can be as many or as few as you need.
You and your dog are unique and have your own individual needs, why shouldn’t you have a trainer that is going to design a program that’s as unique as you?
